Ticking off a point on my\u00a0bucket list always gives me\u00a0a moment of heebie-jeebies followed by joyful excitement and feeling like an achiever in someway. While the\u00a0heebie-jeebies possibly come from an open window, the excitement is real and keeps on getting back whenever I remember the special happenings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Surely I couldn’t stop myself from grinning as we walked into the elegant Japanese restaurant called Benkay<\/strong> inside the Nikko Hotel<\/strong>. The only place in\u00a0D\u00fcsseldorf with\u00a0Teppanyaki-grills<\/strong> and traditional Tatami rooms. All dishes get\u00a0prepared right in front of\u00a0your eyes as you are seated around the\u00a0Teppanyaki-grills. I promise you, waiting for your\u00a0food\u00a0to arrive\u00a0has never been more entertaining! My dad ordered the menu called Benkay for both of us, since I simply couldn’t decide between the extravagant multi-course menus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting with Nigiri sushi and a seasonal mixed salad the menu is a must for every fish but also\u00a0steak lover!\u00a0As first\u00a0main course shrimps, salmon and scallops with seasonal vegetables were served followed by another course of\u00a0filetsteak with a side of\u00a0seasonal vegetables. Precisely observing the cook preparing the steak is extra\u00a0important otherwise you might blink the\u00a0second when he turns out the lights and flamb\u00e9s the steak for the perfect taste experience. Last but not least the matcha cr\u00eape flamb\u00e9e with ice cream and fruits rounded off the menu.<\/span><\/p>\n

The experience was incredible and will surely remain a special culinary adventure with the\u00a0traditional\u00a0Japanese cuisine at its best!<\/span><\/p>\n

Since having dinner at such an extravagant restaurant\u00a0isn’t usual or ordinary for me in any way, eating at a teppanyaki-grill has been on my bucket list for a few years now.
